Thuraya covers Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, but not the Americas. Ask us which network suits your trip before you buy.

Which network is right for you?

Iridium is the only network with coverage at both poles, so it works everywhere on Earth. Inmarsat covers roughly 76°N to 76°S. Thuraya and Globalstar cover selected regions. Tell us where you will be and we will recommend the network and plan.

Before you buy

Satellite phones need a direct line of sight to the satellite, so they do not work inside buildings or vehicles unless used with an external antenna. Trees, hills and tall buildings can block the signal.

Satellite phones cannot call emergency numbers such as 911, 112 and 999, with one exception: they can reach 911 when used in the United States.

Some countries restrict the use or possession of satellite equipment. Check with the embassy of each country you will visit or pass through before you travel. Using Iridium in Russia requires registration before entry, and Inmarsat services are no longer available in India.
